Texas Hospital Seeks Patient Input to Reward Nurses

(WTAW) College Station Medical Center (the MED) is once again seeking to honor one of its outstanding nurses through its annual Patient Choice Award program.  This award recognizes the level of quality care, comfort and compassion offered by nurses each day.

Continuing the tradition of the last few years, the MED is asking for input from community members who have personally experienced or witnessed exemplary care.  One nurse chosen from the nominations will receive the Patient Choice Award during Nurses’ Week, May 6-12.

The MED asks former patients and family members to be involved in honoring an exceptional nurse because they are the ones directly impacted by outstanding nursing care.   “We want to hear from our patients and their family members because they see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level,” said Sherri Welch, MED Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).  “They are the ones who know which nurses go the extra mile to make sure patient experience exceeds expectations – and after all, it is the Patient Choice Award.”

If you or a family member have come to the MED for inpatient, outpatient or emergency care in the last year and you have a nurse you’d like to thank for providing outstanding care, don’t miss this chance.  Nominations for the 2012 Patient Choice Award will be accepted until Friday, April 27.  Nominations can be made online at www.csmedcenter.com/nominations.
