Big money for California nursing programs; About $2.8 million awarded to 17 nursing schools statewide

As part of a plan to further develop California’s health-care workforce, 17 registered-nurse education programs received a total of $2,799,939, which includes $105,000 to Chico State.

The funding was awarded through the Song-Brown Health Care Workforce Training Act, which was established in 1973 to increase the number of available slots in established medical schools, according to a press release from the state’s Health and Human Services Agency. [Read more…]
