A free nursing symposium offered at Hanover Hospital

(Gettysburg Times) A free Nursing Symposium, the Role of a S.A.F.E. Nurse, will be held Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Hanover Hospital Wellness and Education Center, 400 York St.

Sponsored by the Hanover Hospital, attendees will learn about the very specialized field of S.A.F.E. (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) nursing, from the perspective of a victim, a S.A.F.E. nurse and a Victim’s Assistance Representative. They will also will learn what the job functions and expectations are of a S.A.F.E. nurse and the impact that role has on the successful prosecution of predators. The function of the Victim’s Assistance Center will also be discussed and how it collaborates with healthcare for sexual assault/abuse victims.
